About MOVEZ Studio Program

Description: Our MOVEZ program is our newest programming option for dancers who want to take their dancing to the next level. “Little Stepz Lead to Big Movez!” is our motto. Our goal is to create a scalable dance leveling system that is inclusive and accommodating of all learning levels and physical abilities. As an inclusive organization, we believe small steps lead to big Movez! We’ve created a scaled program that focuses on the classic/ technical styles of dance: Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, & Tap. This program allows the dancer to develop their self-discipline, work-ethic, and self-esteem through weekly dance classes. Movez is a tiered, goal- focused program where dancers will receive an ‘Individualized Dance Plan’ (IDP) and work in class with dancers on similar skill levels to earn specialized dance pins and a sash that will presented to dancers at the end of each Winter & Spring Term to the goals that have been achieved or mastered. In class students practice ‘Stepz’ and upon mastering their skills will be invited to the ‘Making Moves Ceremony’ to move on to the next level. In their next ‘Move’ students will continue to build on their previous knowledge, develop, enhance, and evolve their physical and mental dance abilities. Each ‘step’ has an identifiable awards button that will be presented upon the dancer’s proficiency and will be awarded at the ‘pinning ceremony.’ Stepz pinning ceremonies will be held in class 2 times a semester prior to the bi-annual ‘Making Moves Ceremony.’

Requirements:

  • Must be able to participate in class with minimal assistance

  • Dancer should be able to participate in small and large groups

  • Dancers demonstrate with minimal assistance their knowledge and movement skills to be awarded mastery in a dance skill

  • Dancers will participate in reward pinning ‘ceremonies’ at the end of each semester. (Pins & Sash included in monthly fee)

Expectations: Dancers are expected to commit to a codified historical dance program for the opportunity to enhance their natural talents in this art form. Students move through a scalable (and semi-customizable) program created by The C2D Creative Team receiving tangible recognition for personal achievements. Dancers are expected to participate in 2 C2D performances a year: December Production and May Showcase.
